ANDHRA PRADESH, India — May 2026 — A rural Christian ministry in India serving remote communities in southeastern India reported a busy and productive month of outreach activities across multiple congregations during April.

The ministry operates in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, a region along the Bay of Bengal known for its agricultural villages and large Hindu population. According to Pew Research, Christians make up a small minority of India’s population, particularly in many rural areas where congregations often rely on traveling preachers and local evangelists for teaching, worship leadership, and outreach efforts. This rural evangelism ministry is part of broader Christian outreach in rural India, where small congregations often depend on local evangelists and traveling preachers for worship leadership and discipleship.

The ministry has been engaged in full-time gospel work for 48 years among rural villages and predominantly Hindu communities. The work has continued across generations, from father to son, as the family remains committed to gospel preaching in India and strengthening congregations in remote areas.

Several years ago, the preacher’s younger son left full-time employment with a major corporation to join his father in full-time ministry after the loss of his brother, who had also served as a gospel preacher and died during an incident connected to religious persecution. Since then, the son has continued that preaching work alongside his father as part of the family’s long-standing ministry efforts.

Reports from organizations such as Open Doors and Christianity Today have documented ongoing challenges faced by some Christian communities in India, including social pressure, discrimination, and violence connected to religious identity.

“By the abundant grace of God, the ministry activities during the month of April were carried out in a blessed and fruitful manner,” the preacher wrote in the ministry update.

According to the report, special meetings were conducted in four congregations, while additional invitations allowed ministry leaders to preach in six different congregations throughout the region as part of ongoing Andhra Pradesh evangelism efforts.

Among the locations mentioned were Namavaram Church of Christ, Shankavaram Church of Christ, Balarapuram, and Chinnipalem.

The evangelist, who is connected with the Nashville Church of Christ, shared the ministry update as part of an ongoing relationship between the congregation and Church of Christ missions in India.

“Their continued dedication to ministry, despite personal hardship and loss, is both humbling and inspiring,” said Shawn D. Mathis, an elder at the Nashville Church of Christ. “The church is strengthened by faithful servants who continue the Lord’s work across generations.”

The ministry also emphasized its continued mission to strengthen churches and expand Christian outreach in underserved rural areas.

“We are faithfully working with congregations with a burden to preach the truth of the Gospel, strengthen the church, and lead souls to Christ,” the preacher stated in the report. “We sincerely thank God for His abundant grace in enabling us to carry out these ministries, and we are grateful for the continued prayers and support that encourage this work. Every soul that turns to Christ reminds us that our labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

The ministry letter also referenced Romans 10:15, highlighting the importance of sharing the gospel message in remote communities where access to Christian teaching and resources may be limited.
